Ali Hoxie

Graduate Clinical Intern

I am a Master’s-level graduate student at Adler Graduate School, currently pursuing a degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I am honored to serve as an intern therapist at Matrescence and be able to help facilitate the impactful program, The Village Project. My approach to therapy is founded in empathy, warmth, and compassion, and I prioritize building strong, trusting therapeutic relationships where you will feel deeply seen, supported, and understood.

I am especially passionate about working with women and mothers as they navigate the profound transitions of pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. I recognize that this season of life can bring immense joy alongside anxiety, depression, grief, identity shifts, birth trauma, and loss—including pregnancy and infant loss, fertility challenges, and the loss of one’s former sense of self. Hormonal changes, intrusive thoughts, sleep deprivation, and shifting relationships can intensify emotional experiences, and I strive to provide a space where these challenges can be explored with care and without judgment.

My work is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I enjoy integrating somatic and mindfulness-based practices to help clients reconnect with their bodies and to support nervous system regulation. I believe human beings are inherently capable of growth and change, and I find the brain’s neuroplasticity to be a deeply hopeful framework for healing. I am here to support you in developing coping strategies that align with your values, while fostering resilience, self-compassion, and a greater sense of empowerment as you move through the complex journey of motherhood.
