Motherhood has a way of breaking us open—bringing to the surface our deepest love, our greatest frustrations and fears, and often the parts of ourselves we never expected to meet. As a mom of three teens (two of whom are neurodivergent), I’ve experienced firsthand how parenting can stretch and challenge even the strongest parts of us, and how it can also open the door to profound healing and growth.

I’m Dr. Angele Close, a licensed clinical psychologist, motherhood coach, and mindfulness meditation teacher. For over twenty years, I’ve worked as a psychotherapist in diverse settings, including family health care, college counseling, and private practice with adults, couples, and groups.

In my work, I’ve seen how past trauma, unresolved wounds, and patterns of shame and self-criticism often rise to the surface at various stages of motherhood. These struggles may emerge when trying to conceive, facing infertility, coping grief and loss, postpartum, or navigating traumatic birth experiences. And many parents today who long to break free from generational patterns often discover that changing deeply rooted reactions and behaviors in their own parenting is much harder than expected.

While it makes total sense that so many mothers feel lost, unsure, overwhelmed, and chronically frustrated, I believe that motherhood offers a profound opportunity for profound change and transformation. With the right support, matrescence can become a gateway to healing, deeper self-understanding, and discovering what needs to shift so we can show up as the moms we want to be.

While trained in many therapeutic approaches, I lean on those I’ve experienced as most transformative, such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), along with somatic awareness, mindfulness, and trauma-sensitive care. I believe in cultivating a genuine, collaborative relationship with each client—one where you feel safe, seen, and empowered. I’m also deeply committed to my own personal growth, knowing that how I show up in the room is at the heart of effective therapy.

Finding the right therapist is a personal and intuitive choice. If you feel drawn to my approach, I’d love to have a conversation and see if I’m the right fit for your journey.
