Meet Ashlee, postpartum, perinatal, and pregnancy therapist. The journey to motherhood: this can be such a beautiful experience for many, but it can also simultaneously be a very challenging and unscripted experience as well. I have found being a mother myself, that motherhood and parenting looks a lot different than I had imagined it; and that is okay! There is no manual to follow on how to be a mom and all the different peaks and valleys that come with it. There are high highs and low lows, and I am here to help you navigate through all the trenches of what this experience has looked like and currently looks like for you.
My background has primarily in a community mental health setting, but as I have furthered my career and having my degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, I have branched into more couples and family work. I have worked in many different areas with many different clients, but my heart has always belonged to the prenatal and postnatal population. There are so many struggles and stigmas that go along with this journey. We often romanticize the journey to pregnancy and motherhood, and women can feel that it’s harder to express their feelings on some of the “not so great” aspects of this time. The journey to parenthood can be extremely complex and overwhelming, and I am here to support wherever you are at in your journey.
Being a mom is hands down one of the most important titles that I carry with me and has shaped the person and professional that I have become today. Having my own personal experience with miscarriage, high-risk pregnancy, and traumatic birthing, I feel that this helps me to identify some of the deeper struggles of the pregnancy journey and path to motherhood. Being a mom takes a little bit of grit, and a whole lot of grace.
My most important goal as a pregnancy therapist is to ensure that my clients feel heard, understood, validated, and safe. I utilize a combination of different therapy styles including Narrative Therapy and Strengths Based Therapy, but I like to tailor my therapeutic approach to the needs of my clients and build a long-lasting therapeutic relationship.
If you’re looking for a postpartum, perinatal, or pregnancy therapist, I’m really looking forward to meeting you and supporting you through this part of your story!
