During my first pregnancy, I thought I had prepared well for motherhood – I read all the baby books, bought all the gear, and even took pregnancy classes. To say I was underestimating how life-altering this transition would be is putting it lightly. The learning curve is steep and it feels as though the stakes are quite high. I was fortunate enough to be in a very self-reflective Masters in Counseling program with Northwestern University that allowed me the space to make sense of how drastically my identity was changing. I truly believe every mother, every parent, deserves and needs a village. It is my hope to be a part of my client’s support system as they navigate all of the high’s and low’s of parenthood including pregnancy, couples therapy, postpartum depression and anxiety, and parental burnout.
I am a relational cultural therapist. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is mutually growth-fostering and impactful for both the client and the clinician. My goal is that my clients feel empowered through our work together as they grow in understanding of who they are and the issues they are facing. Within relational cultural therapy as a framework, I also use psychodynamic, CBT, and Internal Family Systems techniques.
