Feel understood, supported, and empowered as you navigate postpartum anxiety.
Postpartum anxiety can make what’s already a huge life change feel even more overwhelming. After bringing a baby into the world, the days can start to feel like a blur—full of responsibilities, sleepless nights, and constant worries. It’s not just about adjusting to your new role as a parent; postpartum anxiety often brings a heavy dose of persistent fears and unease that can feel too much to handle on your own.
If this sounds familiar, please know you’re not alone. Many parents go through this, feeling like they’re juggling a million things while battling intrusive thoughts and overwhelming emotions. But here’s the good news: you don’t have to face it by yourself. Seeing a postpartum anxiety therapist can offer you a safe space to talk through your feelings, find some relief, and regain a sense of balance. Together, we can work on helping you feel more grounded and confident as you navigate this new chapter.
Explore new ways to cope and find more joy in those early days of parenthood.

Take small steps toward feeling like yourself again.
Moving forward begins with acknowledging that you deserve care and support. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan to help you feel more balanced, calm, and confident in your new role as a parent. Get Started with Matrescence Therapy
What is Matrescence?
Matrescence is the physical, psychological, and emotional change that occurs during the process of becoming a mother. However, here at Matrescence we consider it to be ALL parenthood, not just motherhood. It is considered a developmental phase, much like adolescence, that can involve a variety of things such as hormonal shifts, body changes, identity reconstruction, and relationship transitions. The four components that contribute to the challenges of matrescence are:
- Changing Family Dynamics: adding a child or children to a relationship undoubtedly causes strain and stress
- Ambivalence: the push and pull of wanting a baby close, but also an intense desire for space
- Fantasy vs. Reality: anticipating parenthood will go one way, and then discovering it may look different
- Guilt and Shame: fear that one may never live up to the “perfect” parent.

Insurance & Payment Information
We are currently in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois PPO, BCBS Blue Choice, Cigna/Evernorth, Aetna, and United Healthcare plans. We strongly recommend checking with your individual plan to inquire about therapy benefits. You may be responsible for co-payment or other costs. If we are out of network with your provider and you would like to submit through your insurance, we are able to provide you with a receipt (known as a “superbill”). You are then able to submit this to your provider for reimbursement, if your plan provides this type of coverage.
