As a certified perinatal therapist and mother of three, I am passionate about mental health during reproduction, pregnancy, and motherhood. This is a time in a woman’s life that is often labeled as blissful and exciting, but it can be one of the most challenging transitions a woman experiences. This is a time of significant change, and usually involves uncertainty and emotional overwhelm. Many women experience fear, guilt, resentment, grief, lack of identity, and reduced self-esteem. Some women experience postpartum depression, anxiety, and other perinatal mood disorders.
I have over twelve years of experience working with adults facing difficult life transitions, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and medical issues. Before moving into private practice, I worked at Northwestern Medicine and specialized in women’s mental health. I coordinated services and provided therapy for pregnant and postpartum women in a nationally renowned program. I worked collaboratively with OB-GYNs, perinatal psychiatrists, social workers, and other leaders in this space.
Being a mom is undoubtedly my most important role. My personal experience with pregnancy and motherhood furthers my passion for working with other women through this transition. Motherhood has shaped me into the person I am today, but it has also been a difficult journey.
I use a combination of different therapy techniques individualized to each person, as everyone’s stories and needs are unique. Some of these techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Strengths Based Therapy, Behavioral Activation, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
